Motor Vehicle Inspections

All vehicles with out-of-state titles, salvage or non-highway must be inspected prior to being registered in the State of Kansas.



Vehicles registering from out-of-state to Kansas need the following information:



If no lien on title to vehicle:

  • Original Title only (copies are not accepted)
  • Current proof of insurance

  • Valid Driver's License (Kansas DL not required)

  • $20 CASH FEE 

Lien holder occupies title or is holding title:

  • Customer must contact lien holder and request a copy of the front and back of the original title be faxed to the Nemaha County Treasurer's Office at (785) 336-6000.  No other copies will be accepted.  Power of Attorney may be required of lien holder if customer's name does not appear as owner with lien holder on title.
  • Current proof of insurance
  • Valid Driver's License (Kansas DL not required)
  • $20 Cash Fee Inspection

  • SALVAGE, NON-HIGHWAY AND OUT OF STATE REBUILT SALVAGE INSPECTIONS



    Require a Kansas Highway Patrol inspection. These are done at the Nemaha County Sheriff's office on Tuesday afternoons between 1 & 4. If this time is not convenient you will need to call for times and locations of other places. Fees for the KHP inspection is $25.00
